  1. Ok here it is: Talked to Rudy at a soundcheck for a Yngwie Malmsteen live show this past summer. He was using both Peavey and Alembic basses, both had Fat Fingers on the headstocks, basses straight to SansAmp Bass DI to power amp section of Ampeg SVT to Ampeg 8x10 cab. That's it! He said the "Fat Finger" is 50% of his sound. It really gets out the dead spots and dramatically improved sustain. He relies on a little bit of compression from the soundman at the soundboard but he doesn't use an onstage compressor in his set up chain. How's that for dead simple? His bass sound is great live by the way - which is a combination of his setup and how he plays. And a very nice man to boot. Cheers to you Rudy.
