Ever seen a guitarist strum a guitar without a pick, do that.

    Other things to try.

    1. Searching Talkbass, we have a wealth on information here, use it to your advantage (this was covered last week I believe)
    2. Watch Primus videos (John the Fisherman showcases this technique well)
    3. bassically.net probably has a feature on that technique
    4. Experiment

I have found a few ways to do this techinique

    1. Flicking out the fingertips, i.e. flamenco strumming
    2. Using the thumb in a slap motion for a popped sound
    3. Using seperate fingers to isolate the seperate notes

    Hope that helped.

After learning alot of mudayne songs and worshiping this guy on bass...ive come to the conclusion he doesnt do anything special, well its special for metal I guess. But anyways the way I mimic the techn ique is to press my middle finger nail into my thumb fingernail and strum as with a pick(erk). Works every time....just something you gotta practice, great for nailing some chords to move alot of air.
