Sabre 5???

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by bassman1185, May 7, 2001.

  1. Did MM ever make a Sabre 5 string? I'd swear I saw one in a music video ("Motivation Proclimation" by Good Charlotte) but it might have been a Lakland. I'm pretty sure it had a MM 4+1 headstock. This is no big deal, but it's kind of been bugging me for a while.

No. MM discontinued the Sabre a few years before they introduced the Stingray Five. You might have seen a Lakland or a modified Stingray.

Or could it have been a 5 string Sterling?

  4. ....or was it a G&L L2500(not sure of the model number) ? (4+1 headstock on older G&L fives)

There is no Sabre 5 string. Like The Mock Turtle Regulator said, it probably was a G&L L-2500.

  6. Ok, thanks. I was just kind of wondering. It had MM/J configuration, but that's about all that I saw. I didn't really get a good view (whay are bassists always in the back?!?!) so I can't really say what it looked like.

If it had a MM+J pickup configuration, it was most likely a Lakland.

I'd buy a Sabre Five if they made one, come to thing of it I'd buy a sabre if they still made them.

  10. re. Lakland
it would have a 3+2 headstock then, I suppose.

He said he was 'Pretty sure' that it had the MM 4+1 headstock configuration.

I suppose that it could be a modded Stingray 5 or perhaps even a modded Jay Turser.:D:p
