Flamed koa on...mahogany. Not Roger's usual swamp ash or alder. How's it sound compared to the regular Modern 5? Nino? Nino? Bueller? Bueller?

  3. The ONLY other bass, apart from an Imperial Fodera fretted 5, I would love to own - they really float my bass-boat...

Anyone know how the Koa/Mahogoney body would vibe compared to a Ash or Alder....? Wonder if it's chambered too. I believe all the NYC basses are going to be chambered from now on. Must be getting heavier wood or they feel that is the best way to go with all the instruments. I love mine, it's a PJ Alder that is chambered.

I love the four string... it's a looker. Might get flamed for this, but if I bought it I'd want it "vintage-ized" with a knob plate and pickguard. I don't mind the gold hardware but prefer chrome. Don't like black hardware at all. I know it's generally considered a waste to cover up figured wood, but not for me... what would be left showing is still superb. I'll bet these special edtions cost a mint.

Someone needs to convince the man to do a matching headstock.

    Mahogany body? Cool!

Has Roger ever done a mahogany body before?

I bet it is going to sound great.

Unfortunately, I've been pretty busy and I haven't even played one yet.

Anyway, with the "NCUP", I don't know if I can post anything about these basses.

The prices are standard, even though he's going to make only 25 TOTAL (not 25 of each type), which is awesome. Sadly, way out of my current financial capabilities, tho. :( Also, the signing on each one will say like "one of 25" or something like that.

I also asked about the tone because of the diff body woods, and whomever (Roger?) said it's "a bit warmer in the midrange".

I've asked for years to no avail. :(

He just didn't want to get into that option. I guess he has his reasons behind the decision.

Like "too much out of line of Fender tradition", "too un-Fenderish" or something like that

I don't see why you cant answer a direct question about the tone, unless you don't want to:
