    Why?

I've got one with Big Single but I don't really love big single's sound. I don't know if the setup have problem, but after fine tune by local luthier I still not satisfy with it. So I wonder if I should try the original EMG pickup or Sadowsky Soap bar or not.

Or just sell it and purchase the MS5.

And why you guys only use Big Single? No one use Fat Stack, Big Split or Dual coil with Sadowsky M524?

  2. I guess, IMO, it depends WHAT you don't like about the tone. IME, that particular basses tone is primarily driven by the somewhat unusual spacing of those big pickups close to the bridge.

IMO, any pickup swap will be relatively subtle, and the inherent tone of that particular model (tight, lots of upper bass/low mid push, lot's of 'space between the notes, etc.) will remain.

If you are looking for a more J Bass type tone, IMO you aren't going to get it from that bass, and you would be better off with one of the Sadowsky J models. If you want more modern sizzle, and a bit deeper low end, but like that very mid present tone in general, a swap to the Sadowsky pickups might do the trick.

Err yes! Too thick! I don't like its treble sound!
I think it was my bad electronic make those sound, but after setting up by local luthier here the problem still here. So I think that its the pickup problem... or maybe still the setting...

  5. I loved the bug singles in mine, I don't know about being too thick, I actually thought the bass might be better suited to something thicker like the DCs perhaps, but it was amazing with the BSs in.
Disclaimer: haven't heard with EMGs or with Sad. Soapbars.
