I was recently modifying the blend control on a friend's NYC to wire it "correctly" and noticed that the preamp's on/off switch has some sort of a cap across two terminals of the switch

    1 2
    3 4
    5 6

In the set-up above, this cap connects terminals 3 and 5, and terminal 5 has a second lead connected to ground. terminal 3 also connects to the blue lead from the preamp. terminal 2 connects to the green lead from the preamp. terminal 4 connects to the tip of the output jack. the volume pot connects to terminal 1, which is also cross connected to terminal 6.

so just what is this cap and what purpose does it perform?

FWIW I clearly see how this is used to bypass the preamp in the signal chain, it's just that cap that leaves me puzzled.

    all the best,

    R
