    I own one of these and can tell you they sound incredible with a passive Lakland USA 55-60 and a Korean Lakland Skyline 55-02 in passive mode.

    Is the XLR output signal taken after volume and tone or before?

    Otto, i just read the specs on line and they're not clear. from my experience, i'm pretty sure the volume control DOES affect the gain at the XLR output.
