Sadowsky spalt maple PJ 4 in progress

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by JimS, Nov 14, 2002.

  1. Yowsa! Here's my Sadowsky spalt maple top on alder body before finishing, spraying, buffing etcetera. It's a PJ4 with a P body instead of the J body.

The fingerboard will be Brazilian rosewood.
  2. WOW
i have been rendered speachless by the beauty of that board!! awesome

most impressive spalted top i have ever seen. and i prefer P bodies to J.
  10. For some strange reason, I usually dislike P-bodies with exotic wood tops - a P calls for a pickguard, and you don't want to cover a nice piece of wood with a hunk of plastic, hence, I like my P-basses painted - but I stand corrected. That bass looks terrific JimS! Can't wait to see it finished. What kind of fingerboard is it going to sport, BTW?
  11. Brazilian rosewood.

Very cool spalted top. There is a ton of great flaming in that piece also. With a nice Brazilian board it will look awesome. Good luck with it.

    Ditto, and ditto. Stunningly spectacular.

I would pay big beans for a fiver just like that, but Roger said he has no plans to build a P5 (sniff!) :(

    I dig it.

Congrats. That will be super when you get it.
  15. Here is after finishing. Roger called me tonight to say it will ship next week. It's going to be a looong weekend albeit floor tickets to Bon Jovi tomorrow night (March 14) should help distract me.

This is one of the most beautiful tops I've even seen. I'm not a big fan of exotic tops, but if I ever get a bas with one it'll be with a top like yours.

which fingerboard wood have you selected?

    keep groooovin'

Is there spalt AND flame in that or do my eyes decieve me? That is extremely cool man. Congrats.
  18. Mr. 3x Fodera,

There is spalt and flame in that piece. And the flame has a slight chevron angle which I think is really nice.

The fingerboard is Brazilian rosewood on a P-width neck. Hardware is black.
