Sadowsky tone= end of quest

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by bassdr, Feb 6, 2003.

  1. I have been searching for years and "eureka" (latin for, I have found it) the tone has come! After owning a little bit of everything, Zon, Roscoe, Stingray, Cirrus, Lakland, I couldn't find a bass that did everything I wanted to until now. Most of the others came close but there was always something lacking. Is Roger a genius or what? Huge bottom end, piano string clarity, nice slap tone, beautiful finish. I guess I'm done.

But like the crowd running with Forrest Gump says when he decides to quit running: Now what do I do?

Here's al ink to the official pic:

Here's my family picture, with the Pedulla buzz fretless sticking it's nose out.

  2. Simple. Get another one!

    :D

    Congrats! Beautiful bass.

My Sadowskys are the only basses I've ever owned that make me grin everytime I pick one up.

  4. Yes, many a man discovers the end of his journey at the gates of Sadowsky.

Only to see another path open before thee...leading to FINANCIAL PROBLEMS!!

I don't have $3,000 laying around to buy one.. :D

    Hi!

Congrats. I emailed Roger and almost bought the bass you picked up. The Bartolini's were my only hesitation. I agree, once you own a couple, the gas seems to go away. Amazing! I was in denial like many others about his product for a long time. I thought "just another Fender on Steroids" Boy was I wrong. I gig with his basses almost exclusively. I own or have owned Spector, Pensa, MTD, Celinder, Fodera, Fender, Zon, Roscoe, Alembic, etc. Sadowskys are the best blend of tone, craftmanship, lightweight, playability. They are outstanding live with great thump and clarity and also go to tape like no other.

I'm so darn excited I think I'll order another!! Maybe a 5 with a silver sparkle paint job. Very rock n roll!! Roger is the king. The best customer support hands down. BTW, his di/preamp pedal kills!!! Get one and you'll be running all your other basses passive through his unit

Congrats again! The '59 burst looks awesome

  6. I have his preamp and run my Pedulla Buzz through it. I like it so much better than the sansamp. Amazing what you can get out of a two-band EQ. It's dead quiet. I recorded with it last week and it is great for recording.

Thanks alot guys. Now I'm thinking about a fretless 5 from Roger. I might not stay married though. Ah, the choices of life....

Supersweet bass! I keep meaning to stop by Roger's shop when I'm in New York, but it's always around the holidays, and time doesn't want to permit me to make it.

From everything I hear, that might be a good thing. :D

That has to be one of the meanest looking Sadowskys I've seen. I dig it.

I see you've got a Walkabout, too! I bet the Sadowsky through the Walkabout into that 3x10" sounds amazing.

    Congrats!

Congratulations! Since I got my Vintage 4 over a year ago, my search for the perfect 4 is over too.

Now, I want Sadowsky 5, but the problem is the money...even used they're out of my grasp today, but someday, it will be mine.

I can't bring myself to sell some of my other basses yet I'm using a Sadowsky DI/Preamp pedal with most of them already (a J, a P, a pre-EB 'Ray, and a Roscoe Beck 5). It gives them all Sadowsky-inflected booty-shakin' tone, but preserves the feel about them that makes them unique. Why don't I just sell them and get that Sadowsky 5 now?  Don't know. Guess I'm not done just yet. :D

    Enjoy your bass!

  10. I want one of those Ultra-Vintage P-basses...but I'm poor...

I suppose it would also help knowing how much they cost too! And if they come with red body/matching headstock...and maple fretboard, too! lol...

Of the few Sadowsky's I've played, I was impressed with how solid they feel while still being light. I played a Jazzer the other month at BC, and while it was feather light, it also felt like it was solid, unlike some other high end basses that start with the letter Fodera. (Nothing against them, but it felt like porcelin...I was worried that a slap might break the thing in half.)

And, the tones I've heard out of them have always been top notch.

    Hi!

Nino, send a pic of the bass when it's finished. Looking forward to seeing the finished product

    Rob

  15. I'd like to see some more pics of other Sadowskys

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I'm living this bass. Hey Nino did you give it that ever special touch? Seriously though, the battery clip came away from the body. What kind of glue should I use to reattach it?
