I have a Fender Marcus Miller jazz with a U-retro pre amp and while is sounds good, it doesn't sound super. Thus I am looking to possibly change the pickups. I have been considering the Sadowsky jazz single coils or possibly some 5% overwound Lindy Fralins and I wanted to get some thoughts.

I want a little more bass response and keep some nice distinct jazz growl with a little more warmth in the mix, but I play very up front in my band's mix so I want to not be too far in the background in terms of sound (too vintage).
Please give me your thoughts on these pickups. I haven't found too much info on the Sadowsky pickups other than that they are made by other companies to Roger's specs. But I am concerned that the Fralins might be too vintage sounding.

    Thanks for any help.

  2. uh, stick what you got. I actually like the sound of the stock pre amp and pickups on the MM bass. Just dial it in on your preamp and you're set.
