I put a deposit to get a custom made With Ze Eduardo (Founder and former owner of Wood now owner of HMZ guitars), so I need to sell my other basses in order to have funds to accomplish this one. All my basses were at an used instruments store.

But I realized I was "bassless" so I got the cheapest back, an Essex BG80, wich was new (I've only played a couple of times at home, but was most of the time inside its bag) only to keep annoying the drummer asking for his bass.

This bass has a great sound! I've played it at a reharsal once and love its tone. But it lacked something on the slapping side.

I used to have a fender '62 jazz pickup laying around, so I got the idea: "Hey! let's make a PJ!"

Yesterday I recorded a couple of sound samples to show how versatile this bass has became.

I've them recorded through my Boss ME-6B with just a little compression to hide my sloppy technique, directly into my "line in" sound card (some onboard crap) to Sound Forge 6.

So here they are. One slap and one pizzicato sample for each combination (J, P and PJ)

And yes, I am very happy with this bass... the next step will be a pearloid pickguard

Oh, yes... I almost forgot... the licks are from Vanselus! I did the same lines to compare to those great basses at http://basstasters.com/
