Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I figured electronics would be the best place for it.

Anyways, has anyone else seen this new product by Samson? It's stompbox style like the X2, and as far as I can tell, they're making bass frequency response a prominent selling point in the description. Only difference is, this system one-ups the X2 by havign a bug style transmitter.

Has anyone used this thing? How does it compare to the X2? I was pretty much ready to by an X2 until I came across this thing, so I'm dying for some info before I make a decision.

These have been around for a few years. The X2's are digital, these are not, AFAIK. I would bet my bottom dollar the X2's sound better (based on my original Xwire vs. Samson UHF Synth 32... no contest!).

  4. i saw one of these in my local music store and hinted to my gf that she might want to suprise me with one on my birthday ..... she went into the store to purchase it and the salesguy asked her about my level of playing ..... she replied "professional" and he said "don't buy him this then"

that's all the review i can give ya, sorry :p

I donno if anyone cares, but I just wanted to report that my X2 came in! It's awesome! And so easy to use! The sound is JUST LIKE a wire. I'm about to put it to the test at a gig tonight, too, so wish me luck!

Can someone link the X2? Not sure what you're comparing to here.

Nope, the Samson units are still analog, using 1980's technology. heh

I had the Samson System. I hated it like Reagan hated the communists. I got rid of it and got the X2, and I couldn't be more pleased. The X2 is digital, and is uber clean. The Samson's tone can be best described as the note coming out of your backside after a night of beans and stale beer. On top of that, the Samson just cuts out like crazy (come to think of it, that cutting out actually helped it's tone!)

You would be correct. I never used an XWire, but I do have a Synth 32. I'm not going to bash Samson wirelesses at all. For years I used them because they sounded to me like a cable with a little extra ultra-highs, and they sounded as good or better than any other wireless I tried in their price range. I saw Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and they used the cheapo true diversity wirelesses for years and both Bela and Vic sounded great. So did Dave LaRue. But they were a little noisy compared to a cord.

These X2 portables, on the other hand, are the best wirelesses I've ever heard, bar none. No extra noise whatsoever, and sound just like a cable without the extra ultra-highs thanks to a 12K cutoff. And if you want those extra ultra-highs, just use a stereo TRS cable.
