Do you find that the Sansamp bddi seems to work better with a passive bass?
It seems to be too much when I use a sansamp with my Sterling. It seems to add hiss and just too much signal. When I tried one with a passive bass in the past it seemed to fit together better?

    Any thoughts?

Not really, just if you boost highs twice you get twice as much hiss.

if you use an activa bass youll have 2 pre amps in the chain, and add ther pre in your amp and that would be 3 pre amps...

i have the same experience that you, i prefer a passiva bass for this reason.
