It finnally arrived, sounded so frigging sweet out of the box. Had the boys at the bass centre string and setup it up for EADGC tuning, DR stings, Lakland Pickups, Sunburst finish with Maple fretboard :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

They are really excellent, i tried the other Lakland 55-02 at the bass-centre which had Barts and these pups absolutely slaughter Barts in terms of versatility and tone, the barts sounded like they are holding back (if u know what i mean) where as the Laklands are much broader in terms of tonality. Also the laklands give the bass a much bigger sound, when the bass is cranked you get this enormous, clear well definined tone that just shakes the whole room with beutiful reasonance.

That ..... is ..... beautiful! I think sunburst/maple is my favorite combination.

Would love to hear a sample of the new Lakland pickups.

I'm waiting for exactly the same bass to be delivered (but with the low B :smug: ) :hyper:

    Congratulations :)

  12. Jealous dude! Awesome bass, this has been a long time coming, congrats!

Ludicrous that it's not strung with the B, these have the best B string in the world!

Say, a jam on the weekend?

I love 5502s!:hyper: What do you think of the Lakie pups and pre?

  17. Played this baby today, boy did it smoke! The lakland package is a mile ahead of the Bartolini set up. The lakland pickups are a lot more open in the midranges than the Barts, they're also a lot more snappy and aggressive as well. The preamp is extremely powerful, pushing out serious volume with plenty of headroom to spare.

Overall, I am very impressed with the Lakland pickups and electronics, as they smash the Barts in terms of aggression, tone, volume and presense. They're just amazing. Can still get a million tones out of the 55-02, just these new tones are more in your face ;) (In a good way)

Nice, me have GAS for another bass:help:

  19. Heh, was at the bass centre the other day, tried some Sadowsky's.

I think I'm heading down the UV path with single coils. Amazing! If not, then an MV with singles.

  20. Man, I really want one of these, now. :(
