On Saturday the 10th, 50 Grit is playing at "Swarming the Beehive", a benefit at Consolidated Works (500 Boren Avenue North). The benefit honors the work and dreams Jim Clowes (http://www.chid.org/) our guitarist's mentor, boss and dear friend, who passed away on March 1.

There will be a suggested donation of $15.00 ($10.00 for students) at the door.

We'll share the musical bill with members of the Radio Nationals (http://www.radionationals.com/ ), the Small Change (http://www.thesmallchange.com/ ), Odessa (http://arcticdrifter.com/odessa/ ),and Ian McFeron (http://www.ianmcferon.com/ ) (among several others), but it's not just a music event. There will be spoken word, visual art, film, and dance, as well as grooves by DJ Gabiwan. (And, naturally, a bar.) Check out www.dialogueproject.org/beehive for a full line-up and more information.

All of the artists involved are part of the learning community that Jim Clowes built. We're thrilled to be performing at an event with all of them, and to help this cause. (Proceeds will be divided between a teaching endowment in Jim's name, and the Local/Global Dialogue fund that he started. There will also be an opportunity to contribute to an education fund for his
    four children.)

If you can show up, We'll be grateful, and you won't be Disappointed!

    In other news:
    * We are also playing on May 1 at the Lock and Keel in Ballard. Stay tuned for details.
    * 50-Grit has started the search for a lead guitar player. There may be dueling guitars and/or flashy harmonies in our future...

I'd love to come, but our band is playing that night as well.

Thanks SMASH! We have some mp3s on our website right now, but they are pretty rough basement recordings. We're currently saving gig money to go toward a 4-song demo.

Mortgages and babies make recording budgets very small indeed! ;)
