Text: http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brew/jul03/153981.asp Video: http://www.jsonline.com/multimedia/popup.asp?id=2714 I don't know whether to laugh or cry. How embarrassing for that poor woman! At least the other sausages tried to help her up. EDIT: It's a ***t video, but it's the only one I could get to work. There's also a video of it on espn.com, or you could watch ESPN television -- I'm sure it'll be played over and over and over again.
My spin: A person in a costume of any type is the same as a clown. Who doesn't like clowns? Why would anyone deliberately attack one? If you'd hit a clown, you're hitting fun/laughter/childhood. This guy has problems. I'm not a psychologist; I could be wrong. (I don't think I am) Mike
Hmm. He beat his meat. One liners outta the way, what an ass. Does he not know that you don't attack people w/ bats. Especially in front of an incredible amount of people. Moron.
When you watch the video, it looks like the other two turn to see what happened and then run away from the scene, like you used to do when you were a little kid and your friend got hurt. Like I said, it's funny, but I feel bad for the girls involved. I mean, here they are, running around in wiener costumes, minding their own business, having a good ol' time and then -- WHACK -- clubbed from behind with a baseball bat. Man, if I'd been at Miller Park, I would have instigated a major wiener attack on the entire Pirates organization. Imagine hundreds of thousands of Miller Park hot dogs raining down on them like napalm. They would have had to call the game, due to excessive mustard and relish on the field. First Sammy Sosa corks his bat and now Randall Simon slugs a sausage. Boy, it's been a sad couple of weeks for America's Favorite Pastime.
I think the thread title's going to have to become the name of my band! "Put your hands together for Sausage Beatdown!"
Does anyone have a direct link to the incident?, as from everything I've heard it was simply a lovetap done in fun, and that the person herself in the costume thought it was amusing.
i saw this on the news tonight and yeah the little sausage people were funny but the guy that hit them (and the video they showed you could see he knocked the f*** out of the poor girl) deservedly got fined and if i were the woman i would have pressed charges (she didnt) but anyways, news is gettin pretty weird here lately. first the giant squid/whale blubber thing, then the "ring" in the sky, then stonehenge is a vagina, now this? ps if you have no clue about the others i mentioned check out the other threads here
Yeah, it's hard to see in the video that I posted, but if you look real hard, in the left side of the screen as the newscaster goes to video, you can see the bat come down on the top of the sausage's head (right on top of the chef hat). You can also see that Simon uses both hands when he hits her. Apparently, neither girl is going to press charges, because they didn't believe he meant to hurt them, which I guess is cool on their part. I don't believe he meant to hurt them either, but I think it was only luck that he didn't. I mean, hitting someone in the head with a bat? He's lucky he didn't suffer a beatdown of his own at the hands of 20,000 Milwaukeeans. Wait, could the Brewers even get 20,000 people to show up at Miller Park? DEFELDUS, I'm gonna have to check out those stories. They sound too good to be true! EDIT: Here's another text attack of what happened. If anyone can link a better video clip than I did, I'm sure we'd all be very appreciative.
I don't understand any of this thread What I do know is ..... "Sausage Beatdown" is a GREAT name for a band!
Here´s a good link to the video: http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2003/0710/1579059.html# Scroll down to: Audio/Video on the right side, and there you will see the following text: Trouble is Brewing Randall Simon swings a bat at an 'Italian sausage.' Standard | Cable Modem Knock yourselves out! (hahaha)
I do agree that the bat strike was pretty dainty and Simon wasn't intending to hurt her, but what was his intent? She's trying to win the sausage race, dammit! You got to respect the racin' sausages! For shame!
It sends me on a wild plug-in goose chase to view the video, so it looks like that won't happen any time soon. From everything I've heard, it seems silly that a big deal is being made out of this, perhaps it's a slow news time. It may not have been in the best of taste, but I don't think it was wrong. Of course, I haven't seen it with my own eyes. Then there's this:
