Anyone playing in Savannah Saturday night? (June 21st)

  2. Nope, but I live in Statesboro, so I'm kinda curious to see if anything cool is happening this weekend.

  3. I'll be playing in Statesboro from Sunday - Friday for a church camp.

Off the original topic ..... I will be in Savannah next month for a week. Any recommended music stores, pubs with live music, or festivals from 7/20 - 7/26 ?

There's a music store on Broughton (sp?) Street next to Panara Bread. They didn't have many basses, but they had some decent ones. Ibanez and Fender MIM's. They had a lot of nice acoustic guitars, though.

As for shops, Broughton street is where it's at. There are a few bars, and there are A LOT of kitchen shops with Paula Deen stuff. One of her sons was in her store today and every female over 15 was flocking there. Me being with my mom, we just HAD to go there... (yaaay...:scowl:)

River Street is a must. River Street Sweets has a lot of good stuff in it. Make sure you go to Spanky's and Belford's. (I think that's what it's called. It's located in City Market.)

Be sure you go out to Tybee, too. It's a nice beach, and there are some cool shops.

    Where are you staying?

Thanks for the info ..... we are actually staying out on Tybee while my daughter does a 1 week summer program at SCAD. We have never been in that part of the US before, looking forward to it.

Also looking for some good BBQ.

Belford's has a BBQ sandwich, but that's the only BBQ that I know of around here. Go to Lady and Sons if you're new or don't get a lot of Southern cooking, but if you do, don't waste your time. Hit up the Crab Shack one day on the North side of Tybee. It's a dive, but great food. Uncle Bubba's is also kinda good, but it's not the best place around. It gets a good deal of traffic because the person that owns it is related to Paula Deen. (If you haven't gotten it, she's big around here.) Tubby's is a good fried seafood place. I haven't been to the one on River Street, but it's always crowded because it's so good. Before you leave, though, you have to go to River Street Sweets and get some pralines. They make them fresh, and they're best hot. Savannah's a great place. I've been going every summer since I was 7 (and I'm 16 now.) What place are you staying at on Tybee?

Mtizzle ...... sorry for hijacking your thread, but it's still all about Savannah ....

Not sure where we are staying ...... renting some newer condo on the beach for a week. The wife has the details, I just get in the truck and go.
You have a lot of local knowledge for your age ....... impressive.

Well, if you think about it, the thread is called Savannah, GA, and I was only concerned about one night. As far as I'm concerned, it's all yours now.

There's a guitar shop I'm going to go to in a few hours when my dad gets back from golf. It's called Patterson's, I think. I'll let you know how it is. I may be leaving this vacation with a new bass =D.

Just know that Savannah is big. There is more to do that just Tybee or just downtown. There's more chain stuff in the suburbs, and two malls. One of them has a Bass Pro the size of Texas if you're into that stuff.

I've been coming down here from my home town (about an hour away from Atlanta) for about 9 years. If I hadn't gained any sort of local knowledge I'd be pretty dense...:p

My mom went out to Tybee today and said it was kinda trashy. It's never been the cleanest place in the world, but she said it's kinda gone down hill. I haven't seen it for myself though, so I'm not sure.
