I was fortunate enough to see Tom Kennedy yesterday @ the Dakota jazz club in Minneapolis.

    Pretty amazing line-up:
    Mike Stern
    Randy Brecker
    Dennis Chambers
    Tom Kennedy

I have to say - Kennedy is my new hero. Great sound (he plays a Fodera 5 string, had a Markbass rig with 410 cab) and boy, does he play some thundering solo's.. There was this piece where Dennis Chambers and Tom Kennedy were grooving right along with Chambers switching up the feel/timing. It was awesome. Epic show. Go check 'em out if you're into the whole jazz/fusion thing. Doesn't get much better than this quartet!

    Regards

That sounds like a monster show. I hope videos turn up on YouTube.

He's a bad ass and I'll be seeing that tour this week too. Should be mandatory listening for any musician.

It kills me that he was an adjunct professor at my university, but I never met him while was here.

Wow where was that? I love Tom's playing and have seen him a bunch of times with Weckl and that band as well as with Mike Stern.

  7. TK is indeed an amazing player. Good news is that Dennis Chambers is back in good health and touring.

  9. Tom is a tremendous player. Amazing tone and chops. His stuff with Dave Weckl is great.

I happened to catch this thread... Tom Kennedy is flat out a monster (in my opinion). I saw him about 20 years ago with the Weckl Band. Definitely in my top 2 bassists, along with AJ... (again, just my .02). I wish there was more of him available on dvd... check out the Stern Band Live @ New Morning. That’s a blistering gig!
