on a whim my buddy and I decided to go see Winger play in vancouver at a small nightclub. i always enjoy seeing bigger acts play at smaller veneues.
i have seen some recent concert clips of them on You Tube etc. and they are quite good. not only that, Kip Winger is a decent bassist.
i was so excited to see this show....
    major disappointment....
it was painfully loud and one of the worst mixes i have ever heard.
couldn`t make out anything; just a constant drone of mud.
even reb beach, who is pretty dam good, had an awful guitar sound -even when he played his solo spot he was indistinguishable sonically.
if the band was good, nobody knew.
    nobody could hear it.
i guess ears aren`t an important criteria for soundmen anymore.

I saw Winger probably five years ago, exact same circumstances, exact same sound...

Was it the "houses" sound man/system? That can be dissapointing..

it looked to us (we were sitting right in front of the board) that they brought in their own people-they seemed very on top of everything.
    i dunno...

A band I was in opened for Kip when he was touring solo. It was just him and a wildly over-compressed and loud acoustic guitar. I did not enjoy it.

for some reason I always get Winger and Slaughter confused.

Winger can actually still sing.........Slaughter can't.
