My Buddy Dan and TB member Rowka is building me a G&L SC shaped bass geetar . He is well on his way and she is looking darn good . check it
Dan is going to send the weight and thoughts on the balance later but he says it is a wee heavy and sounds like a grand piano , lets hope I don't need piano movers !
A giant Thank you to Rowka to send this amazing instrument my way .It's hard to describe how Awesome this bass and all it's unique & unusual features . It's a beast of a bass .. an Elephant gun ..so lets check her out shall we . shes sounds like https://app.box.com/s/86pr6eept14h8jt9mx7vzcrb61f47i5c The headstock is so cool too I can't quite capture it's true beauty yet in the pics but I will . It's super comfy to play and balances perfectly . Shes a solid brick house at 11 .2 lbs but sits on you perfectly , all the contours are just right . Actually I think Rowka hit on something here that you don't often see . The contours really do sit into your body much differently then say a Fender . They are carved and shaped and have a ergonomic flow which is one of it's unique qualities . I think Rowka should pursue this more in future builds . Think Kline or Kubicki but with a "normal" body shape . I'll get more pics and clips as we go , right now it's the center piece in the room The headstock is gleaming like the North Star Lots of love and praise to Rowka I believe he is a gifted artisan that is willing and able to do things differently . Let there be rock !
Absolutely beautiful. Can you elaborate on the contouring? Just looking at the pics, it seems to have essentially the same forearm contour and tummy cut that Fender pioneered. How is it different?
there is some additional rounding over and flow , it's hard to see in those picks but it's thinner at the top edge and cuts deeper in and the forearm thins out more for lack of a better word . They are in the usual places but just conform and flow a little more .
