Fellow Talkbassians, A couple of weeks ago, I found an old Fender catalogue in the classifieds: The Collected Works of Fender (1976). It contains an overview of gear that Fender was offering at the time and also contains the *very cool* Fender Fairy tale ads. I'm bought it with the intention to cut out the original posters and use them as decoration in my living room. Yet, before I'd butcher this vintage booklet, I figured it would be nice to scan the catalogue and post it on the TalkBass forum online. I bet there are more people who either appreciate the artwork, or who would just like to look at the catalogue. Due to copyright, I checked with Fender if it's alright for me to upload a PDF of a scanned version of the catalogue, plus a PDF containing the fairy tale artwork. They said it was cool, so I wanted to upload the PDF's for all to enjoy. Only problem is that the thread says that the files are too large. Anybody know of a way I can upload this on the forums for all to enjoy? Peace!
I’m of no help concerning the PDF’s, however, I’m very much looking forward to your posts. I have very fond memories of seeing those posters in music stores and magazines in the 70’s. It was a neat advertising campaign with lots of imaginative images.
I've used filedropper for several different kinds of files in situations where I didn't necessarily want to host things forever. For something like this, it could work ok. Whatever method you use, it's always a hoot to see those sorts of "time capsules," so count me as looking forward to it as well!
Hey folks! Thanks for suggesting file hosting! However, I don't know how long these files will remain active/available. I'm looking for a *relatively* permanent fix (Preferably some option through TB itself.) to prevent needing to keep uploading these every once in a while in order to keep them available. In the meantime, here are filedropper links! Full catalog: http://www.filedropper.com/fendercatalog Fairytale artwork: http://www.filedropper.com/fenderfairytaleposters I encourage you to spread them over the web! I bet there's tons of people who'd like these for their rehearsal space or home!
Golden Age of Fender, right there Perhaps you could print them to PDF a page at a time, and post each page in your TB media album? ( Not sure if that takes PDFs... alternatively, export each page to JPG? A lot of work, I know...)
I'll check it out! Thanks! It might take some time though. I don't own a scanner, so I used the scanner at my school for this. First I'm going to cut out the originals and get some frames for them. Once school starts again after the summer I'll see if I can scan them one by one and upload them in my Talkbass Media album. I'll restrict it to the artwork though, scanning the entire album takes up quite some time.
Me too, I was really hoping to acquire a copy of this. On the note of hosting files, I use Google Drive.
This is the problem I am trying to avoid. I do wish to share the catalogue, but I don't feel like reloading every once in a week. I'll put them up one more time, but I'll need a more permanent solution hereafter.. http://www.filedropper.com/fendercatalog http://www.filedropper.com/fenderfairytaleposters
Awesome! I'm glad everybody is enjoying these Here's my own project! I used a small box cutter and cutting mat to carve out the artwork and put them in frames. When I said "butcher the catalogue" I really meant butcher it.. Edit: a typo.
