IMHO, the Hipshots are better. I just converted a bass from BML's two days ago.

The Hipshots are more solid, resonant, and have a better gear feel.

The BML's felt like they had a less accurate turning action and I felt like all of that graphite/plastic was absorbing string energy as opposed to resonating it through the neck.

I put Hipshots on my Status, Warwick, and Modulus basses. They're a major improvement over the stock Gotoh GB-7 tuners...and the Gotohs are pretty decent to start with. You can order them directly from Hipshot. Their service is fantastic.
