I recently bought a PJ Bass during my trip to Japan, it sounds good but I can't seem to find anything about it. All I know is it's called a PS-PJ from the Progauge line. Does anybody know anything about them? I plan to sell it but the details I have are very lacking.
Yes, Schecter Japan is owned by the same man who owns Schecter Guitar Research in California. From my understanding, Schecter Japan has a high end line just as we have in the US of hand built instruments.
I started that recent thread. Shortly after, I bought this Progauge double precision from ebay. Specs for all these Progauge and Artist series guitars and basses are here: SCHECTER GUITAR RESEARCH. I didn't like the SPB-2s in there -- a little too hot -- so I had a tech put in a pair of Bartolini 8S pickups instead. When I picked it up -- just today, in fact -- he remarked that the finish and build quality reminded him of Ernie Ball. He was very impressed. The bass cost me 1000 USD before shipping and duties, and I consider it money well spent. It feels great and sounds like armageddon. Not a blemish on it, despite the awkward caveat, common to many ebay ads for gear from Japan, that it showed "feelings of use". It was a gamble, though, because, as OP points out, there's very little info on these. A few queries on guitar forums, but nothing substantial. Luckily the gamble paid off: I love this thing!
LOL ... I am staring at this bass right now, but here it is for sale in an active ad: SCHECTER PA-HK/PP Snow White | eBay
I actually saw a similar bass like yours on their website, but for mine I can't seem to find anything. The only other ebay ads I saw were of my bass. I could tell by the exact same scratch marks on the plastic on the pickguard as in the picture. Is it possible that it was a custom made? I can't find any contact information for Schecter to be able to trace the origin and the original price. Thanks for the share! (its an amazing/odd looking bass, and I bet it sounds amazing as well!!)
