Schecter Stiletto Studio-6 or Ibanez SR706??

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by newfie_hardy, Aug 2, 2008.

  1. I'm saving up for a bass, and I want a 6 string, It should be good for tapping, I like to pop and slap a lot, and I know how hard it could be with so many strings. Anyone have any suggestions, anything to contribute here? I would like to jam a lot of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Both basses look nice, so I'm not talking about looks. So here I am Stuck betyween the Schecter Stiletto Studio-6 and the Ibanez SR706, and I don't know much about them. halp!

    25 minute bump...really...on a weekend...

Sorry, never played either. I'd suspect they're probably pretty comparable as far as quality and sound goes. Try to play both and see which one you like better.

  4. I have the schecter, and I love it. I remember having to choose between the schecter and an Ibanez BTB. I have never played an SR though.

If you get a low action on the schecter, it is amazing for tapping. It also has a good slap tone, but I don't use it for that much(that's what the Warwicks are for:bassist:). I have mine tuned to E-A-D-G-C-F. You can hear me using it on all the Bach stuff on my myspace(in my signature)

ive played both. The only thing i dont like about the Ibby is the tight spacing, though i dont recall the spacing on the schecter so it may be the same. They are both pretty good basses though. The schecters, to me at least, always felt like if i dropped it, it would break in half. ibanez could break your feet if you dropped it.

I am facing the same problem!
Geez, I don't know, maybe I should go for the Schecter.
I already own an Ibanez GSR180 (yeah, I know...) so I don't really feel like buying another Ibanez. What am I, married?

    probably.

  8. I was really close to buying a Schecter Stiletto Studio 6, but couldn't find one in my area to try out. I didn't want to order one without playing it first. It seems like a really nice bass, especially for the money. I say go for the Schecter.

I'm now in a band with a guy who had a 5 string, and he said it sounded and played awesome.
