On a lark, I dropped by MusicGoRound today.
(Don't know why... as they usually don't have much bass gear of interest.) But they had a bunch of higher end bass gear from an estate sale. Scored an SWR Henry the 8x8 cab.
Carpet is a little worn in spots... but this thing sounds AMAZING. Before bringing it home, I plugged in a 5-string to check the response to an open low B. WOW! This much low end coming from eight inch speakers was shocking.
Pumped up the EQ at ~60Hz (to torture test the cab)... and it still sounded good (no farting out).

    Punch! Clarity... and Bottom

I knew the cab had something special when a $120 Samick Jazz style bass sounded awesome thru it. :D

They also had an Eden 2x10, Shroeder 1x12, Ampeg 1510, and SWR Big Bertha.

  4. Mate, if you think the henry sounds great (and it does) try an open "B" on the megoliath at lots of watts. It just about blew me off the stage!

    Great cabs, but bloody big!

    Cheers

You lucky bastard. I LOVED my Henry the 8x8. The tone, the punch. oh wow the punch. I loved how when i stood right in front of it during gigs i could feel the air gushoing out of the three huge ports. congrats man. Great find. I still have yet to find anything that sounded quite as good (IMHO) with my 88 Thumb NT. i miss it. thanks for the memories "Hank"

Dude, that was my favorite cab in the store...

But that Eden XLT 210 w/ cover for 3 bills is sorta tempting as well.

That never even crossed my mind...
    But yes, I bought the 8x8 on 8/8 :D

I didn't leave the house expecting to bring home a 100lb cab... (drove a mid-sized car)
But it must have been pure comedy watching me load the thing. Inch-by-inch into the back seat... :help:

    Agreed.
I played thru it... and it sounded pretty good.
If I didn't already have a 2x10, that Eden may have left with me too. ;)

SVT-3 Pro for 5 bills (great shape) would be great too!
If you need an Amp head...

I had 2 of them back in the min nineties. only ever needed one on a gig. even without pa support! great score!

I always wanted to pair one with a big bertha 2x15 as the cabs are the same size as the 8x8. mmmmmmm bertha!
