    or was that Snotty?

  5. There are murder trials everyday. I don't see why this gets hours of media coverage.

Man, I know this sounds really jaded....but why am I supposed to care?

To put the thread back on topic...I think if he would die either way. In prison, no child killer gets off un-touched. If he does get life, he will probably get brutally beaten on a regular basis, or just get shanked while getting it on the recieving end from Bubba.

  7. Which is exactly why the death penalty is stupid.

Yeah, I didn't follow the trial, so I thought it was Scotty from Star Trek as well, I was freaked out.

If it came to life in prison or death penalty, I'd kill to get the death penalty... hmmm, bad "pun." But the death penalty is a treat.

I'm kind of with jrthebassguy on this. Murder's a horrible thing, but sensationalizing it is even worse. It seems that cases like this just give people the oppurtunity to feel self-righteous and watch as someone gets led through the system by a leash. It all seems like gladitorial combat.

If the defendant captures your attention and is charismatic, he/she can go free, if not, throw them to the dogs.

    Whatever, hoorah, death penalty.

Because the victim was young, pretty, and white.

Sounds about right. You still don't have to care about the trial though.

True. Seems like this kind of thing happens every few years or so. We Americans need a scapegoat to help clear our collective conciousness from any guilt. Peterson, OJ, Saddam, Russia, Jacko, etc. We need to point a finger at somebody and say "You're guilty!" in a loud voice so we can delude ourselves into thinking our ideal of justice is working the way it should.

I thought it had already been established that Austalia is a nation of nuts and loonies.

Why is everyone so happy he got the Death penalty? Wouldn't people rather see him rott in prison? It's not exactly "nice" to live in prison. Personally i'd rather die then spend a night in prison.
