Does anyone know what the difference between the Seymour duncan ProActive and Lighnin' Rods? I'm looking for a P-J set active pickup and was wondering which one of them I should get.

    The exact models are:

    Seymour Duncan APJ-1 ProActive
    Seymour Duncan APJ-2 Lightnin' Rods

    Thanks!

The Lightnin Rods are designed for a more vintage tone and have exposed pole pieces for a traditional look.

The Pro-Actives are more modern sounding (scooped EQ) and do not have the exposed pole pieces.

IMHO the Pro-Actives are much like any other active you will find on the market today while the Lightnin Rods are a more unique sounding and looking active option. Both models come with pots, jack and wiring included.

Hey thanks for the reply. That's actually the most informative info I've gotten so far about these pickups. I have a question, though: what do you mean by scooped EQ?

    Thanks!
