I am researching the best pickups to get that classic p-bass tone out of my SX p-bass shortscale.

Alot of TBers favour SD Quarter Pounders and they seem to be in my price range.. especially compared to other pickups (I wonder why they are like half the price of other higher-end pickups?). So these are probably going to be the pickups I will get.

Down the road I will eventually want to make this bass active and put in an onboard preamp.

Will the quarter pounders be suitable for that application?

My apologies if this is a niave question. I have no experience on this matter at all.

They most deffinetly will be fine for active electronics.

I have used my Quarter Pounders with a preamp for years. Sounds great and no problems.
