I know I've talked bad about Fender (the company) in the past, but I COULDN'T pass this up! A Jazz Deluxe, sunburst, tortoise shell pickguard, and a rosewood board. All for $550! I'll post pix soon. but it's nothing spectacular. It's in excellent condition.

  2. Man that sounds like a deal! And sunburst/rosewood/tortoiseshell is exactly how I like 'em. Get the pix up ASAP.

    Good luck with it.

  4. Icez, try: www.pickguards.com

    I think they'll have a Torty there.

Thanks. The blue one is the Essex.

  12. Yes. Picturing it in my head, I think it would look very nice. It would look like an extension of the neck.

I, on the other hand have a black Stingray with a black pickguard and rosewood board. I'd like to get a different pickguard, but, can't think of a color that would look good. Anyone have any ideas? Rule out white, I already have a black Jazz bass with a white pickguard.

Woodchuck, I like that bass. Sunburst = thumbs up.

  13. A red tortoise shell guard would look great on a black Stingray!

  14. Nice score on the Fender. So, have you done a side by side comparison with the Essex vs. Fender?

    What do ya think?

One thing I noticed right off, is that the Essex's neck is a hair wider than the Fender's. And the Fender's body seems to be a bit more compact.

    EDIT(JT):  .

  16. disgusting... yet quite funny...

anyway, congrats on that bass, its a beauty.

how do they compare sound wise? and playability wise?
