  1. I check out Reverb everyday for a couple of different basses I am looking for. So the other day I saw this bass posted.

    Spector Euro 5LX

Then 2 days later(today) I saw this bass posted again. Same seller. Different price. Mind you both for sale posts are still up and current.

    Spector Euro 5LX On Sale

Then I go to the Guitar Center used website and see this:

    Spector Euro 5LX

Same bass in all 3 posts. 3 different prices. From what I can see the seller on Reverb doesn't even have possession of the bass. I contacted Reverb to complain about possible fraud but Reverb saw no problem in it. I guess I am done with Reverb now as well as Ebay.

    Be careful out there.

How do you know the guitar center bass is the same one?

The aftermarket knobs and Dimarzio buckle strap pins would be my guess.

To the OP, how do you know the Reverb listing isn't put up by that GC store?

they are using the same photo of the back in both posts, which is a bit puzzling.

  8. From what I have done intel on is they are both in IL. And the $1,500.00 post just got deleted.

  9. Why would they call themselves Tiffany's Gear Outlet and charge over $500.00 more for it then what GC site wants.

    1. Buy the buy bass from GC

    2. Sell it for $500 more

    3. Profit!!!

    No... This is the scam:

    1) List a bass you haven't bought yet from guitar center for $500 more than GC wants.

    2) Sell the bass to some unsuspecting person, collect the payment.

    3) Buy the bass from GC and then ship it to buyer and profit the difference in prices.

Sure...that's another way of saying it, adding the "wait for someone to buy it from Tiffany's"

Or, you could buy it and if it doesn't sell within the 30 day return window, just bring it back for no loss. I'm not sure how many times a person could go to the well on that, though, without drawing attention from GC.

Is there sales tax in IL?

  15. Yeah this is a common thing now. Not a scam but still a bit sketchy.

Pretty common scam on CL as well to steal pics of items for sale and list them again to rip people off.

If the reverb seller really wanted to do this, why not put the bass @ GC on layaway, therefore taking it off the market?
This doesn't make any sense/who gives a hoot

For layaway you have to put money down right? In this case, the reverb seller has no financial investment into the item regardless of if it sells or not. If it does sell, they make $500 (minus tax), and if it doesn't then it's GC's problem.

  19. I'm not seeing a problem? Does reverb not have buyer protection like ebay? If the bass is overpriced don't buy it.
