Looking for a recommendation for a semi-hollow 5-string. My guitarist plays a Taylor T3 electric. It's a semi-hollow Les Paul shaped guitar. The only similar bass off the top of my head that I know of is the Ibanez AGB205. I'm a little concerned about it being short scale (30.3) and also assume the string spacing is tight. My favorite bass is my G&L Tribute L-2500 (18.5mm string spacing). I'm looking for some recommendations.
Finally found the string spacing...15mm...on the Ibanez. That seems awfully tight. I'm looking at your suggestions now lomo. Thanks.
Not sure what kind of music you play-the Rob Allen basses are outstanding but maybe too much in the upright tonal vein. Spacing on the Warwick is tightish (17mm I think) but >15mm and it's 34" scale.
Is the semi tone really needed in that setting? Not trying to dissuade you from GAS, but would a P or J 5, or indeed hour G&L... not cover fine? If you use rounds, maybe try flats as they can add a little bit more body and warmth to solid bodies.
TB moderator Chef has (or had ?) a Valenti semi hollow Jazz with f-holes. Beautiful bass. If that's what you're looking for you could PM him. I'm sure he'd give you the lowdown on it.
Warwick starbass all the way then. No finer 5 semi http://www.warwick.de/sys/tools/php.../Star Bass II Maple/1905625400CPFMTFWW_01.jpg
