A repeat customer just sent me a deposit for this so I might as well kick off a thread while I'm waiting for materials to arrive.

    He already has all this:
    Wilkinson open gear tuners. (4)
Pearloid cream pickguard and gold screws.
Gotoh Badass style bridge. Screws included.
Control plate and jack with CTS 250 pots and .05mf capacitor (will be drop-in ready exc. for ground wire to bridge and p'up installation), incl. screws.
Abalone knobs (3) w/ set screws.
Fender style string tree (round). With screw.
One set of Fender flatwound bass strings. ML guage.
Fender N3 Noiseless pickups, NIB. Springs and screws included.

He really likes gold hardware :sour: so I'm going to use the EVO fretwire for the first time on this one.
Neck through construction, 5 ply. maple and mahogany with mahogany wings.

He wants the bound top with the F hole. All this mean there will be no contours on the body, I don't approve of that but I'm not going to have to play it.

Just finishing up a neck through Telecaster, fun times.

Thought I'd try clamping the 5 ply to the fence on the old Craftsman Jointer. I'll see if it worked in the morning!

  7. So I'm seeing a Knucklehead, a Panhead and something else in the background that I don't recognize. I'm guessing something English like a Triumph?

Gotta put a new battery in it today. Minimal wiring and I still have a drain going on with the key off. Driving me nuts.

  11. Yeah, mine has a Mikuni round slide that has something wrong with it. I think it sat too long with today’s lousy gas in it. The enrichener won’t stay on on its own and it’s pretty difficult to hold that lever down and kick it over at the same time. There’s a couple of used carbs on eBay that I may get one of once I get paid next week.

Never did like those carbs on any bike. Best kickstart carb is a CV off a 90s HD.

Pressing the in the gold EVO frets. So far they seem easier than the regular stuff

Got most of the carve done today. Gluing the wings on next.

Noticed the Chinese pickguard route was smaller than my template.

Does anyone else put off a bunch of sanding to do something more fun on another project until you realize now you have twice as much sanding to do??

  20. I currently have three instruments waiting to be sanded before spraying finish, and then I went and started another one.

So no, I have no idea what you're talking about. :)
