    Hello,

i found a mexican p. Although.. Serial number says it's a mex jazz. (MZ2211145) The seller has no explanation for this. What do you guys think?

    regards,
    martin

  2. Welcome to Talkbass.

Is the seller the original owner?

The neck could have been swapped out for a Jazz neck at some point.

    Are there any pics?

    Welcome!
We have more Fender experts here than you can imagine. But somenpucs would help them do their magic.

If the necks had been swapped then the neck would say Fender Jazz right on it.

    It's in dutch, I'm sorry..

  5. That is quite odd, Fender's lookup tool has it as a fretless Jazz... I'd guess just a mistake in the database or something, Standards aren't really worth faking.

Is it a P nut width?

I don't know the nut width, haven't asked yet. It's not the most expensive P in the world, but I want to be sure it's allright. The owner bought it new he says, he has no bill anymore.

From the pictures, its a P with a P neck. On a Jazz the low E is a straight pull but on the wider P it bends at the nut.

That's just a P. The databases are wrong.

Looks legit. Probably a database glitch?

On a side note... Price seems a bit steep for what it is. Is that a normal going rate in the Netherlands?

^ I looked at the picture. And the Decal. Am I missing something? It's a P-bass, I have 6 of them behind me right now.

Database error. The only other explanation would be if the whole thing were fake, but that is highly improbable.

Okay everybody, thanx for the quick responses. I'm pretty sure now that it is a real P. In Holland they are around 400 euro's. Bit more expensive than in UK or US of A.

Welcome to TB. As others have said, most likely an error in their database. Looks like a P should.

If you look up for example MZ2211154 you see two basses, one a P with no image and one a fretless Jazz... Sounds familiar? :) So, clearly a numbering mistake somewhere, perhaps at the factory...

For my preferences, a jazz neck and P body is the best of both worlds. ;)
