What are the disadvantages and advantages of each? I'm considering to resolder my eb3 and I need to know if there's any reason to have it either way.

If the pickups are Barts, series gives you a higher output and more mids while parallel gives you a lower output, scooped mid and more highs.

Series connection will sound "bigger", "louder" and "fuller".

Might make an EB-3 sound very muddy.

It only takes a few minutes to try it each way and see which you prefer. I like series with single coil pups; not so much with large humbuckers. (Assuming we're talking about the connection between pickups, not the coils within a pickup.)

  4. Why do they have to be Barts?

The same is true of all pickups, because that's how the physics of it works.
