I ran across this and it caught my eye. Anybody ever hear of a set-neck Spector? Also, the location of the active/passive switch seems to be in an odd location, and is something I've never seen either. Anybody know anything about these?
I've seen a few set-necks out there including one that came up for sale here on the Spector forum. It seems to be a pretty solid design. Not quite a bolt on and not quite a neck through. The neck is sandwiched between the body laminations. The active/ passive switch may have been and aftermarket alteration. Do you have a picture?
I have one, but it probably isn't the Spector you are describing. Mine is a Korean-made Spector Legend Custom.
Crap, guys. Sorry about not posting the bass in question. Idiot me . And, here I was thinkin', "These bastards on here are ignoring me. How dare they!" Anyway, it sounds like ol' homeboy, WVBass may have answered my question. Maybe. We'll not know until y'all have a gander. Here she be, people...... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Spector-leg...T-/281525211625?pt=Guitar&hash=item418c35d1e9 Thanks again, Steve
That is definitely a Spector Legend Custom. The craftsmanship on mine is everything you would expect from a Spector. I believe it has an EMG preamp, but I have to say mine sounds nothing like you would expect from a Spector. Rather than being aggressive and in-your-face, mine is quite smooth and polite. If mine is a typical example, these play as well as any bass out there. Of course, I seem to find a fine playing instrument in just about anything I pick up and put just a little time into.
Do some homework. That current price seems really high to me. You can find a used Euro neck through for less. Perhaps because it's a rare design he's trying to get more?
