I'm looking for any info from someone who's owned or played either of these pups. They're the same aside from the size (the SMB-4 is an EMG35 size while the SMB-5 is an EMG40 size). I know they're switchable from single to dual coil, but I'm interested in how they sound, in terms of warmth, clarity, etc. Not so concerned with the output level. Thanks for any answers.
  2. They have a ton more lows than most normal MM style pickups (not comparing them to Stingray pickups). The mids are also more detailed.

    That's my experience.

Oh, and they cut through better.

Aiiiieeeeeee... this is why I haven't been getting many responses. It's the SSB-4, not SMB-4. It's an EMG-shaped pup, comes in 35 and 40 sizes. I appreciate the reply all the same. I'm looking for a better pup than the EMG-HZs in my Spector. I like the coil-splitting idea, and I do need more lows and a bit more detail- any opinions on this pup?
