I`ve just bought one of these but then read that they`re not compatible with the 3position switch that cames with the MM Stingray 5. (there`s a newer model specially designed for this)

I always thought it was a direct replacement for the standard MM pickup. Besides, their ad highlights that it has "the traditional Alnico tone from original 1976 Stingrays"

Has anybody tried one in a MM Stingray 5?

You need the SMB5-a3 for a direct replacement for an SR5.I had them in several SR5's and they do give it more of a traditional Stingray tone. The Norstrand variant is also good.
