Is there any real difference between the "Fender wiring", or the "SD wiring" for a P bass?

    See underneath the wiring schemes:

On the SD style the cap is only attached to the tone pot. On the Fender style it is between the volume and the tone.

Electrically, they're the same. Mechanically, the Duncan diagram is better: if a pot comes loose, the capacitor doesn't run the risk of being destroyed.

Maybe this is the MiJ wiring, but Mia and mim don't wire the cap that way...At least the schematics I have seen and the two fenders I own.

FYI, I have an MIJ Fender P-bass that is wired like the Fender diagram above.
