Seymour Duncan

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by count_funkula, Jan 14, 2002.

  1. I looking at (maybe) getting a Warmoth Gecko 5-string bass body. The suggested pickups on Warmoths web site are Seymour Duncan ABS-5.

Are these pickups active? The bass they show has the SD pups but no onboard preamp. Is that correct? If so that would be ideal for me because I rarely use the preamp on my bass but I do want the clarity of an active system.

    How do these things sound?

  3. there are also schematics for the setup you want to run on the "Backstage" portion of the SD site. I put the ASB-5's plus the preamp in my bass and never looked back. They will definitely clean up and expand the range of sounds you can get from the bass.Cheers
  4. They are active, but THESE PICKUPS SOUND GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOME OF THE BEST I'VE EVER HEARD. Seriously, i love these things. In the future i will get a Gecko with them.
