    Hello everyone,

Could someone please tell me what type of pickups these are, if you know? I would like to replace them with better ones, but would like to get the same type.

    Thanks very much!

What brand of bass is that?

The question, how does it sound?

I played some no name EB-0 copy when I first started playing. There were a lot of Japanese guitars that were copies of Gibsons.

It could be a Tiesco or one of those brands.

The pickups were often not bad sounding for that they were.

You can get replacement EB-3 style pickups if you want it to sound like a Gibson, or go the Mike Watt route and stick someone else int here.

    Thanks, I'll look into EB-3.

Can anyone tell me the type of both of these pickups or what would fit these cavities and sound good with the metal plates remaining?

Your bridge pickup is a guitar pickup. It's not quite in the right location either. Does that even have a cavity? It looks like a surface mount pickup.

The neck pickup cavity might work, but it's hard to tell.

You can get the pickups here:

Could the bridge not be modelled after a jazz bass pickup? or do screws always line up with poles?

Sorry for the low quality here, but this is the underside of the single coil. You're right, there's no cavity. Even the wires are the cheapest possible. I'll be talking to some pickup makers.

It's a guitar pickup. That doesn't mean it will sound bad. It's built like a lot of the cheap pickups you found in the Japanese guitars at the time.

Japanese is right, as discovered in this thread. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f57/bass-identification-nice-sg-copy-873703/#post12493680

I'll probably put in a mudbucker replacement. I'm not sure what to do with the other.. I'd like to have the same metal and style covers. I like the idea of using a long pickup rather than a mini humber like an EB-3 since it's unique, but am not sure how it would sound covered up.

How would you describe a jazz bass pickup in a bridge position? I've never heard it. Are they played alone or usually blended with the neck?
