Ok, with all the "yeah, I'm a ((punk, metalhead,ect..pick you poison))" out there, one must defy the sterotype. 1) What are you "caterogorized" as, and 2) How have you bent the genre rules?
i'm considered a "punk" by most i know, but everyone knows punk supports the individual, so its impossible to bend any rules when there isn't any.
I guess I would be catagorised as a "hippy" (or "neo-hippy ) Well, thats what everyone says, but I feel I have more in common with the darker side of the hippy culture, I wear black leather and dark glasses and black jeans, not colourful stuff. Im more 'The Velvet Underground' and 'The Doors' then 'Jefferson airplane'. Peace! Jim
I dunno. I dress goth/punk/skater, I listen to metal, punk, classical rock, alternative, modern rock, some jazz, some folk, and some blues/blue grass. I play metal, punk, jazz and in a praise band. So what am I? Metally confused, that's what!! Rock on Eric
I am in a metal band, i listen to metal, i wear all black (one guy said to me once "who are you?.....death?") lololol But i like classic rock and classical music like Mozart and Bach etc. We bend the rules even in our band. Yes we're death metal with a bit of black, bit of grindcore etc but we also have acoustic and melodic intros. We try not to stick to one mundane sound because "were supposed to be Death man" Merls
I dunno dude.... I really don't consider myself anything..just some dude who wears alota black clothes (sometimes I'll dress sorta skaterish like Chino from the Deftones). Is in a hardcore/metal mix sorta banda thingumagig. I listen to alota ska, funk, hardcore, nu-metal(putting it in the popular therm) and punk rock every now and then. I dunno really.....I'm just a Danimal (get it? Daniel...animal...Danimal? har har har!..funny funny...ok maybe not) n'stuff
Well I'm considered either a punk or goth by many.. I like wearing black, not because I'm evil/worship the devil, but because I like it and you can do your clothes in all one wash How have I bent the rules? I like Pink Floyd, the Chilis, Sublime and other non punk/goth bands. But yes, most music I listen to is punk/metal/whateverthehellyouwannacallit.
On the outside I'm whatever is clean in my room. On the inside I consider myself more goth(not so much a metal-head).
I like the term Hardcore youth, and hooligan. Which is kinda what I am, I don't wear any t-shirts unless they have a logo of a band, independent label or some really old t-shirt that doesn't mean anything. I love hoodies and I wear a fedora when I can. I like Social D, Ramones, Clash, Angry Samoans, Screeching weasel etc., LTJ, Green day, Digger, NOFX, Toasters and so on. But I also listen to artsy stuff like King Crimson (select songs, some of it is over my head) I love Bebop and some swing and Charlie Mingus rules. I also listen to Super-poppy very anti-whatever-punks-about music like Queen and Lit,
i like to smash my head into stuff and spit blood and bits of teeth at people who suck. which is a lot of people, so i shall soon be completely devoid of any utensils with which to chew my food with i gotta work this bitter and twisted metal-head angle out CRYPTOPSY CRAP ON YOU ALL!!! *rawr*
My look doesn't really fit in with any particular type of music, it's business casual. It used top be a cowboy hat, sports jacket, cords, plain t shirts, but now that I'm looking for an office job for a work term, I have to look "respectable". So now my look is what my friend so eloquently called "corporate slut". Fine with me, chicks seem to like it. I guess I still like different music than the other business students I know though.
I really don't know, lately I have been wearing my pyjamas everywhere and have not been taking showers... Maybe I am just a grub? well At least I am comfortable and dirty?
I'd consider myself a metalhead, but i dont know what the clothing stereotype of metalhead is. personally, i wear band t-shirts, that range from cannibal corpse and cradle of filth to kiss and ac/dc, these are usually black. i think i have a white metallica one somewhere though, and i either wear jeans, but mostly i wear camoflauge trousers, and i have a range of different colours. for outdoor use i have a leather jacket (im like the only 15 year old in my county that wears one) or a metallica hooded top. my social life consists of sitting in my room (sometimes my friends rooms) listening to music, and trying to persuade my dad to let me drink his beer no luck yet though. this might be a stereotype, i dunno. i also like madness and classical music, which confuses everybody, but i am who i am, i dont try to fit in, nor do i try not to fit in. i just be myself.
Why classify myself, or music? I am what I am, and I like good music, whether it was written by Mozart, Stravinsky, Lennon & McCartney, Zappa, Dogg or whoever. It's all good.
