Sheilding transformer on Firebass?

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by DeadRBassistNJ, Jul 18, 2005.

  1. When I stand next to the transformer end of my Firebass head with the bass plugged in and turned up, and the head is turned on and turned up to my normal playing volume, the bass picks up a ton of noise. Sometimes it picks up a high frequency which clips the amp. This actually blew out the horn on my Avatar cab. The room my band practices in is pretty small so I end up next to my amp a lot. Is there anyway I can sheild the transformer to get rid of the hum and noise it puts out when Im near it?

  2. Step one, use the DDT on the amp

Step two, shield your bass, it sounds like thats the problem, not the amp itself
