So I went out on a bike ride today, and smartly took along no phone, no keys, no shirt, but at least brought my wallet, and I did a good clip in the parkway, and upon returning home, saw the alley blocked with cop tape, and several police cruisers and officers guarding.

Went a few blocks the other direction, and found more cop tape and streets blocked off. An officer told me I should go north, and I might find access to my home, but it was not to be. At least 10 blocks were taped, and there must have been 60 officers guarding access, and the neighborhood was up in arms.

The story started out 15 year old unarmed black kid tazed and then shot 20 times by officers, but over the course of the night I met the victim's aunt, who advised he was 30, and drunk.

A lot of tense standoffs between the neighborhood and police, and a lot of scary behavior, and hands on holsters.

I was quoted in the local newspaper saying, "I hope no more black people get shot tonight," and was told for 5 1/2 hours I would be standing in the street, shirtless, phoneless, and glad I wasn't being shot, alternating with hoping I wouldn't be shot, and finally an officer said if I had ID, (I did,) he could escort me to my house. I waited until he instructed me that he would need to witness me going in the door to tell him my keys were in the garage, and I had to go back to the alley to open the door with the opener.

When I got back there, I saw the body. I took a photo, which I will not share, under any circumstances with anyone, so don't even ask, and all I can say is it's a bit gruesome.

I'm happy to be home; happy not to have been shot at all; sad that someone was killed, but as to the victim (perp) not having a gun, I could see the shiny butt of a .9mm sticking out of the waistband of the body. I was laying down to sleep when a knock came at my door and some officers questioned me, but as I said, I was out of the neighborhood when the incident happened, some three feet from my garage door.

Sorry you had that experience, it had to be scary to be dragged out of your normal safe life by something so out of your control. Best wishes.

Unfortunately, in emotional cases like this, the truth is often elusive.

Glad you are ok. I'm not sure what we would all do without your musicianship and hair!
