    Hi All,

I am in the process of buying a HIGH END custom short length bass guitar....

My question is: If I needed to tune it down 1/2 step would that present a problem on how the strings feel, i.e. floppy feeling?

    Thanks, Kalo!

    How short?

My 6-strings are 32" scale and I have regularly tuned down a 1/2 step without any troubles. If you try it and the strings are too floppy, then try a thicker gauge string. I'm using a .105 E on my 6'ers.

    Hi Xyllion,

The one I MIGHT be purchasing is 30 1/2 inch neck....

You could try different gauges to find out what feels good to you.
