I was wondering if a short scale bass needs more or less relief than a standard or long scale bass as a general rule?

Also, does scale length affect what will work as far as nut height.

I have been straightening the neck on a Squier Bronco and it still feels stiff, tough to push down strings and not very fun to play.

    Thank you

I have two Musicmasters one a 97' vista the other a early 70's. Both have SS Chromes on them. I have them setup action wise as low as I can get them with out buzz just as I do for my P basses.

Have you tried some lower tension strings?
That would probably solve the stiffness issue.
