I'm looking for reviews of the black nylon tapewounds from Rotosound for use on a short scale fretless bass. I usually use chromes on all my basses, long and short, which are fretted. I put them on this without really even thinking about it, and I don't really like how they are sounding. Any opinions of the 88's as far as sound, tension, and longevity would be a help. Thanks

You should do a few Searches here. They were discussed not too long ago.

I just put a Rotosound 88M medium scale set (The 88S short scale set is too short for a Hofner bass! So, be careful.) on a Hofner 500/1 bass and they are a blast to play. Love their feel. Smooth touch with a bit of a softer upright sound. The last time I used them was back in the 1970s and I can see why. But, I also have another Hofner bass strung with rounds as my 'go to' bass for now. But, you never know!

Tapewounds aren't for everybody. Not a fan myself.
