Should I go for more bottom end or warmer sound for a Fretless?

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by bkchang79, Nov 15, 2002.

  1. For the price and since it comes complete, I'm going to get the EMGs. There's a CS (warmer) or a DC (more bottom end) version pickups for my bass. I can have one of each too, for example I can have the warmer sound on the neck and more bottom end for the bridge. What configuration should I shoot for a fretless sound?

I like having the Bartolini P/J set up on my Pentabuzz. The blend control takes me between deep hairy fullness to smooth middy bite. I think the placement and the active boost acentuates the dynamics I get from the glossy fretboard.

It's a combo I don't really look for on my fretted options.
