I have a Yamaha RBX375 that I plan to sell soon. It's a really nice bass for the money. But in my opinion, it' not that pretty - I have the silver one.

I'm considering doing a military camoflauge style paint job, to enhance the visual appeal, and the "cool" factor.

Assuming I do a good job, I think this would add to the desirability of the bass for selling purposes.

    What do you think?

  2. IMO carrot orange is very sexy:hyper:

  3. leave it. camo has a very limited appeal

Looks like an overwhelming "no camo" vote!

I bow to the better judgment of my esteemed bottom-layers, and agree:

    No Camo

Paint it camo or whatever else you like if you're going to keep it.

If you're going to sell it, leave it as is. The custom paint will not help!

  8. Bob,

Since it's already silver, how about going with an aircraft theme like on these knives??

IMHO, that would look much classier than camo :)

If you're just planning to sell it, it doesn't really matter whether you think a camo finish would be cool or not! It's probably safe to say that the number of people who'd be interested in buying a silver bass is probably much larger than the number of people who'd be interested in buying a camo bass. That's why silver is a much more common standard finish than camo. :)

If you paint it camo, make sure you can find it again afterwards. :D

No, no, the idea of camo is to blend in with the background, so he couldn't find it again afterwards! :bag:

  17. thats cuz hes zakk wylde and people think if they buy his guitar theyll sound like him...not because its camo. the chances of selling a silver bass are much greater than a camo one...thats why ny music shop you go in will have more standard paint jobs than camo or anything else crazy like that.

im not saying they dont look cool, but if the objective is to sell it...dont paint it.

the cup is half empty or half full.. is what it comes down to

you might sell it for more cause its got a custom paint job, Ive sold more than my share of refinished guitars when I played guitar for more than what the guitar would of costed new.

    or

you might not sell it cause its been painted, some like plain jane boring same color and style as everyone else conformist kinda stuff.

    I STILL SAY PAINT IT :) :) :)

oh and it does take more time, effort, and decrease in productivity to spray a camo pattern vs a plain color. You have to 3-4 colors with in depth masking inbetween every color, etc.

Final tally: 95 to 12 against painting it camo. So I left it as is.
