I believe you should do whatever you want to YOUR bass. If you dig everything else about it but the finish, refinish it. Just be sure not to go the budget route, get a real pro to do the job. That bass deserves it.
Nice Photoshop skills (except maybe for the carrot one). I didn't vote because you shouldn't take that sort of decision based on others opinions. It's your bass, and I find it beautiful no matter the color. Well, except the carrot one, it will give me nightmares.
Thanks V, ha! Not to worry, I won't likely make my decision based on the feedback I get (I consider it non-binding) - just curious about which color options (or not) you cats like best.
Okay, so the Burst is the one I like the most. I really like the way the gradient goes with the color of the fingerboard.
Is the finish damaged? Do you not like the finish? If you don’t like the finish, then why did you buy it? Are you in a theatrical act that requires a certain finish on your instrument? Are you a woodworker or instrument builder that enjoys refinishing projects? I voted for “Keep it original”.
Normally I'd be in the natural oil camp (and that's some of the nicest flame I've seen on a Rebop), but you've got some pretty great looking options there... ...as long as it stays natural or matte finished (no gloss for me).
Nope to all, just like to tinker / can't keep well enough alone. I think it looks great, but maybe could look awesomer. Sounds and plays great. So far the consensus is to keep it as its creator intended, which is my inclination also. Thanks all for the input -
It’s your bass...but if it was my Spector it would have to be pretty beat to refinish it....as in basket case beat
