Last week, I posted a thread about the cheap SX basses being low on stock the past few weeks, and how much of a bummer that was because I wanted to get back into bass playing after having sold all my basses a few years ago due to financial issues concerning my special needs daughter (her therapy costs big bucks, and insurance only covers some of it). People were kind enough to post some alternative vendors that stock lower priced basses (thanks everyone!) but I also received a PM from TB member 40Hz who offered a Squier Jag, no strings attached, to help out a fellow bassist get back into playing. I was and still am stunned by this act of kindness--though I'll never regret selling off my stock to help pay for my daughter's medical necessities, having to quit playing cold turkey wasn't something I had ever expected to have to do. Long story short, I received a bass today--a nice Squier Jag in near mint condition. Of course, I spent at least an hour tooling around on it (and realizing how out of practice I am, heh) and it was amazing. I'm so overwhelmed. I wanted to thank 40Hz here, publicly, as well as in PM to let him know how much I appreciate what he did--and that one day, when things are looking a little better here, I'll be paying the favor forward. The camera on my phone is borked so unfortunately no pictures, but it's this model :
Always nice to hear good things from good people in the world. This world is full of too many negative things. Good to see some positive interaction.
That's awesome. I know there are a ton of logistical issues as to why this idea wouldn't work, but I was thinking the other day it would be cool if we, as a forum, could come up with a way to help somebody who is young or broke or whatever to obtain a decent bass. I know I'd chip in once a month or so.
With all the negativity in the world, it’s refreshing to hear some good news. Well done sirs, well done.
You don't need an organized group to do this. I've sent rigs and equipment clear across the country to help others, you can do the same if you are motivated enough. Congratulations to @40Hz for helping out, and paying it forward. Anyone have a used bass amp to donate?
Great story . Congrats to you and I hope that @40Hz receives at least doublefold on his good deed. I know how much joy is received from giving .
Wonderful! I'll add my voice to the chorus: that was very nice of 40Hz! And yeah, I'll say the obvious...you've got good karma!
